About me

About me - JP in Fuerteventura
“Sometimes I sits and thinks, and sometimes I just sits”

I have been visiting Fuerteventura for the past 32 years having taken many holidays here over the years, both in the summer and winter. We mainly stayed in Corralejo and El Cotillo although on my first visit we stayed in Caleta de Fuste (which was tiny then).

What attracted me to Fuerteventura and made me keep coming back? The climate (of course), the wonderful beaches and the laid back, informal, lifestyle mainly.

15 years ago, while on our honeymoon, my wife and I bought an apartment in Fuerteventura, in El Cotillo. We then started spending up to 3 months in Fuerteventura each winter plus about 6 weeks at other times of the year.

In 2013 we had had enough of the awful UK weather so we sold up in the UK and moved to Fuerteventura full time as expats. We have learnt a lot over the years so I try to give whatever tips which may help others thinking of moving to Fuerteventura. Read the full story of how we went about moving to Fuerteventura.

In this blog I show what to see when visiting Fuerteventura and give advice on the best places to stay, renting a car and give tips for driving in Fuerteventura.

I also run a website all about El Cotillo in Fuerteventura – elcotillo.net which shows everything you need to know about what I consider to be the nicest place on the island.

What do I miss about the UK? Well apart from old friends and family pretty much the only thing I miss is racing which I did for 10 years with reasonable success.
